(the “Company” or “Capacitor”) is pleased to provide an update on the progress of the BLOOM Critical Materials Project funded by Horizon Europe, the European Union’s €93.5 billion fund for research and innovation, the largest such program in the world.

 

Led by Dr. Josep Oliva at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), in Barcelona, Spain, the BLOOM project is a Critical Raw Materials focused project and is integrated by a multidisciplinary group of 14 partners from 6 different countries. The BLOOM project’s goal is to develop new MLA-online sensor (mineral liberation analysis) technologies to improve how critical raw materials (CRMs) like tantalum and niobium are extracted and processed, thereby strengthening EU supply chains and reducing EU dependency on critical minerals imports from unreliable regions. Capacitor Metals’ advanced Upper Fir Tantalum and Niobium Deposit is a key contributor to the EU BLOOM project.

 

As previously announced (Capacitor Metals news April 4, 2025) the Company received grant funding for the delivery of sample material from the Upper Fir Tantalum & Niobium Deposit in British Columbia for the BLOOM Critical Materials Program. The Company delivered ~20 kilograms of drill core, ~220 kilograms of pulverized material, and ~820 kilograms of crushed rock to UPC in Barcelona, Spain.

 

The BLOOM project review took place on July 7th at UPC in Barcelona, and on July 8th, at the UPC facility in Manresa, Spain where the containerized mobile processing facility has been created. This containerized processing facility is intended to be portable and will be moved to locations on, or proximal to, source material feed stock. The Upper Fir Tantalum & Niobium Deposit is one of the world’s largest defined resources of tantalum, with a current indicated resource of 48.4 M tonnes at 197 ppm tantalum and 1,610 ppm niobium, and an inferred resource of 5.4 M tonnes at 191 ppm tantalum and 1,760 niobium. The indicated resource amounts to 21M pounds of tantalum and 171M pounds of niobium. The inferred resource amounts to 2.2M pounds of tantalum and 21M pounds of niobium.

Within the Blue River Property, the Upper Fir deposit has a significant historical indicated resource of 9.6M kg contained tantalum and 77.8M kg contained niobium plus an historical inferred resource of 1.0M kg contained tantalum and 9.6M kg contained niobium.
