The elevated urban farming company has been accepted to participate in the 12-week agrifood program further enabling its ability to collaborate and continue to move its business forward.

 

Agriplay, an elevated urban farming company, is dedicated to solving local food security by transforming underutilized commercial real estate into productive indoor farms that service local communities.  Agriplay’s proprietary growing system enables the Company to grow hundreds of  varieties of fresh vegetables without the consumption footprint or limitations of traditional vertical farming.  

 

Agriplay can grow up to 15 times more variety of fresh fruits and vegetables; uses up to 3 times less energy; and is up to 40 times more scalable than traditional vertical farms.  The Company is currently working to convert over 2.67 million square feet in Calgary and over 1 million square feet of commercial real estate in Edmonton, into productive urban indoor farms supplying previously imported vegetables to the Alberta market.

 

They will soon move into their first operational site at their showcase facility in Calgary Tower Centre in Calgary, AB, Canada.

 

The THRIVE Academy is made possible by funding from the Alberta Scaleup and Growth Accelerator Program led and managed by Alberta Innovates.
