MetalQuest Mining Releases 2023 ESG/Sustainability Report
Rockport, Ontario -- January 7, 2025 -- NewsGenie -- MetalQuest Mining Inc. (TSX.V: MQM; OTCQB: MQMIF) has released its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG)/Sustainability Report for 2023, focusing on the Lac Otelnuk Iron Ore Project in Quebec.
CEO Harry Barr stated the company prioritizes stakeholder engagement, particularly concerning environmental and social aspects. An Exploration and Pre-development Agreement with the Naskapi Nation of Kawawachikamach was signed December 12, 2023, and discussions are ongoing with other First Nations and communities near the Lac Otelnuk Project. Barr emphasized the importance of ESG metrics for the project's long-term sustainability and social license to operate.
The report, available on MetalQuest Mining's website, aligns with frameworks from the Taskforce for Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB). MetalQuest Mining aims to maintain transparency and address ESG issues, planning to release such reports annually.
MetalQuest Mining is focused on developing the Lac Otelnuk Iron Ore Project, one of the largest in North America. The company is collaborating with an engineering firm to develop a plan. MetalQuest is also working with the Naskapi First Nation of Kawawachikamach under an Exploration and Pre-Development Agreement from November 2023. The company aims to secure an Option/Joint Venture partner from the Iron ore industry. The Company also holds 2.5 million units of Canadian Copper (CCI) and two NSR royalties totaling 1% in Murray Brook PEA Stage Zinc-Polymetallic Deposit.
