Bio Graphene Solutions Achieves Milestone with EllisDon and Tomlinson in Concrete Pilot
Toronto, Ontario -- December 5th, 2024 -- NewsGenie -- Bio Graphene Solutions (BGS) has announced the successful completion of a pilot commercial concrete pour with EllisDon Corporation and Tomlinson Ready Mix. The pilot integrated BGS's graphene-enhanced admixture into Tomlinson Ready Mix's sidewalk concrete pour at an EllisDon construction project in Ottawa. The biographene-enhanced concrete mix used 10% less cement than the control mix, while still achieving targeted strength.
Jolene Mclaughlin, Vice President of Climate and Sustainability of EllisDon, noted the importance of material science in embodied carbon reductions. Francis Brazeau, General Manager of Tomlinson Ready Mix, emphasized the easy integration of BGS's solution into their operational process.
David Fisher, CEO of BGS, highlighted the value of their graphene admixture product for the construction supply chain. BGS's admixture can remove up to 20% of the cement content in concrete without sacrificing compressive strength, offering cost and CO2 savings.
