Angkor Resources Advances Oil Exploration in Cambodia with 2D Seismic Program
Grande Prairie, Alberta -- March 26 2025 -- NewsGenie -- Angkor Resources Corp. (TSXV: ANK) has announced that its Cambodian subsidiary, EnerCam Resources Co. Ltd. Cambodia (ECC), is initiating a 350-kilometer 2-D Seismic line program to further oil and gas exploration within the Block VIII onshore oil and gas license.
The technical team has identified six potential sedimentary sub-basins of interest across Block VIII, with four in the central-west and two shallower basins in the east. This program follows a thorough review of publicly available data across the Block VIII Permit area and regionally throughout Southeast Asia, aimed at strategically accelerating ECC’s exploration activities in 2025.
The primary seismic survey targets are located within the western half of the Permit Block, in the informally named South Cardamom, Central Bokor, South Bokor, and North Phu Quoc sedimentary sub-basins. On the east side, the North Kampot and South Kampot sub-basins show potential, with plans for additional 2-D seismic programs using accelerated weight drop (AWD) technology to suit the shallower targets.
The oil seeps within Permit Block VIII are similar to those that led to oil discoveries in northwestern Thailand, particularly the Phitsanulok Basin, home to the Sirikit oilfield, Thailand’s largest onshore oilfield. The main Sirikit pool, discovered in 1981, had an initial estimate of 800 million barrels, with recoverable estimates of 148 million barrels of oil and 250 billion cubic feet (BCF) of associated gas.

The Vibroseis 2-D seismic program is planned for the end of the current 2025 Dry Season, pending completion and approval of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) by the Ministry of Environment. Adjustments will ensure lines remain within permit boundaries, avoiding protected areas. The seismic data will be processed and interpreted during the rainy season, guiding future steps.
Advancing onshore oil and gas development represents a major step for Cambodia, which currently imports all of its hydrocarbon-based energy products.
