Purely Canada Foods Dispatches Inaugural Grain Train to Global Markets
Regina, Saskatchewan -- November 4, 2020 -- NewsGenie -- Purely Canada FoodsTM has announced the shipment of its first 112-railcar Unit Grain Train. The train, loaded with Purely Canada’s Canola from their Port Lajord inland facility near Regina, is headed to the Port of Thunder Bay, Ontario, for distribution to global markets.
The expanded rail infrastructure, featuring over 21,000 feet of track, allows for simultaneous loading and unloading of Unit Trains. This expansion facilitates the storage and loading of over 250 hopper cars, enabling the consecutive loading of two 112-railcar Unit Trains. This boosts the shipment of various commodities through the Purely Canada terminal, including grains, oil seeds, pulses and beans, and other agricultural products.
Lionel Kambeitz, Executive Chairman of Purely Canada, stated that shipping 10,000 metric tonnes of Identity Preserved whole oil seeds in a Unit Grain Train demonstrates the transportation efficiencies inherent in Purely Canada's financial model and marks the first of many Unit Trains to be shipped on the Stewart Southern Railway by Purely Canada.
