Clean Energy Fuels ($CLNE) to Supply Renewable Natural Gas to San Diego Metro Transit System
January 24, 2023 – TheNewswire - Clean Energy Fuels (NASDAQ: CLNE) has been awarded a contract to provide 86 million gallons of renewable natural gas (RNG) to the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) to power their bus fleet. This is a significant step forward in the transition to clean energy in the transportation industry.
RNG is a much cleaner alternative to traditional fossil fuels and is expected to reduce 73,972 metric tons of carbon dioxide per year, the equivalent of planting 1.2 million trees, taking 15, 939 gasoline cars off the road, or recycling 25,596 tons of landfill waste.
Clean Energy Senior Vice President Chad Lindholm stated: “As a result of the use of RNG the people who live in the San Diego area will have less exposure to greenhouse gas emissions and cleaner air.”
In addition to the contract with MTS, Clean Energy has also signed agreements with a number of other organizations, including Filamar Energy Services, the Stark Area Regional Transit Authority, the City of Burbank, US Foods, and Pacific Expressway. These agreements will bring even more clean energy vehicles to the roads, helping to reduce emissions and improve air quality.
Clean Energy Fuels Corp. is the country’s largest provider of the cleanest fuel for the transportation market. Clean Energy allows thousands of vehicles, from airport shuttles to city buses to waste and heavy-duty trucks, to reduce their amount of greenhouse gas.
