Calgary, AB / TheNewswire / On Wednesday, April 10, CCVO will bring together 350 professionals from Alberta’s nonprofit, government, and business sectors for a full-day conference at Mount Royal University. Featured speakers include ATB’s Chief Economist, Todd Hirsch; international expert in adaptive capacity, Juan Carlos Eichholz; former Liberal MP, Anne McLellan; and Allan Northcott of the Max Bell Foundation.
The Conference will include multiple sessions, including Adaptive Policy and Adaptive Advocacy – timely discussions, in the midst of this election cycle. Despite the central role of public policy in social change, nonprofit professionals often struggle with their role in policy work. Perhaps even more important, is the need for nonprofits, and the sector as a whole, to adapt its advocacy efforts to ensure they can continue to play an essential role in ensuring the health and wellbeing of our communities.
“Nonprofits are increasingly required to be more adaptive – responsive to the transformation of the economy, alert to the impacts of social and technological change, and proactive in leading change” says David Mitchell, President & CEO at CCVO. “This year’s Connections Conference will be a stimulus for all of us to become more responsive to change.”
This 8th annual Connections Conference, convened by CCVO, will focus on the theme of Adaptive to empower nonprofits and other organizations to respond to changes in the economy, technology, and society, and be more proactive in leading and learning from change.
“With over 26,000 nonprofits in the province, employing well over 417,000 people and contributing more than $10 billion to Alberta’s GDP and $29 billion in total revenue, the nonprofit sector plays a significant role in contributing to the livability and prosperity of our province” says Mitchell.
