Apple ($AAPL) Announces Major Acceleration To Expand Recycled Materials Across All Products
TheNewswire - April 13, 2023 - Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL), the world's largest technology company, has announced its accelerated commitment to using recycled materials across its products. The company's latest 2025 targets include using 100 percent recycled materials in all Apple-designed batteries and printed circuit boards. Apple also aims to make every product carbon neutral by 2030.
In 2022, Apple significantly expanded its use of recycled metals, sourcing over two-thirds of all aluminum, nearly three-quarters of all rare earth metals, and more than 95 percent of all tungsten from 100 percent recycled material. Additionally, the company is working to eliminate plastics from its packaging and has made progress by developing fiber alternatives and innovative printing methods to reduce plastic use.
Apple's recent announcement has been made possible through its work on end-of-life disassembly and recycling. Apple engineers have developed innovative ways to give materials in their products new life through partnerships with research institutions.
Lisa Jackson, Apple’s vice president of Environment, Policy, and Social Initiatives stated: “Our ambition to one day use 100 percent recycled and renewable materials in our products works hand in hand with Apple 2030: our goal to achieve carbon neutral products by 2030.”
Apple revolutionized personal technology with the introduction of the Macintosh in 1984. Today, Apple leads the world in innovation with the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple TV.
