The GOOD Games to Launch Winter Edition in Calgary, Alberta
Calgary, Alberta — October 2, 2025 — Leads & Copy — The GOOD Games, Canada’s largest sports festival, will launch its Winter Edition in Calgary during Family Day weekend, February 13-15, 2026, at the BMO Centre as part of Chinook Blast.
According to Helen Stoumbos, CEO/Founder of The GOOD Games, holding the Winter Edition in Calgary is a natural next step in the movement for movement, a national effort to inspire Canadians to move, play, and connect all year long. The GOOD Games will be part of an exciting line-up of events adding to the energy of Calgary's Chinook Blast Winter Festival, showcasing art, music, theatre, sport and recreation.
The event expects to welcome athletes, families, and fans for three days of sport and celebration, delivering cultural and economic impact for the city. Carson Ackroyd, Senior Vice President of Sales at Tourism Calgary, said the city is thrilled to be selected as the host for the GOOD Game’s expansion into a winter multi-sport event and festival with world-class athletes and facilities.
The festival is free to attend and will include music, food, demonstrations and main stage moments, signature competitions and showcases across multiple sports, try it sessions, family-friendly challenges, and learn-to-play experiences for all ages and abilities, as well as adaptive, Indigenous and para sport programming designed with accessibility at the centre.
Calgary Mayor Jyoti Gondek said that as a multi-sport event and festival, the GOOD Games are a terrific representation of Calgary’s values around sport, movement and community. Brayden Waterman from Wheelchair Sports Alberta said that Wheelchair Rugby at The Good Games is a great opportunity to showcase an action-packed weekend of high-level wheelchair rugby.
The Winter Edition of the GOOD Games builds on the success of recent GOOD Games events and anchors a national roadmap to bring a reimagined, inclusive festival of sport to communities across Canada.
